Self Portraits

This is a very simple, yet meaningful way, for the children to create self-portraits. Before doing these, we discuss how some artists draw themselves and when they do, they look at their hair, their eyes, their clothes and their body. Then we give each child a paper with a picture of their whole body on one side and a white piece of paper glued to the other side. Then simply let the children draw themselves using colored pencils. You will end up with some great works of art!

Missing Body Parts: Easel Ideas

For this simple easel art idea, all that you have to do is draw simple stick figures with missing parts. The children draw in the missing pieces as they choose!

Six Sticks

This is a project where the children are given six sticks to create a design. They have one side of the paper to create one design and then they get six more sticks to create a new design on the other side of the page. When they are happy with their designs, you may squeeze glue all over their sticks so they will stay in place. Write down what the children think that their design looks like. Special Note: There is a book titled, "Six Sticks" that you can find on Amazon. It ties directly into this great project.
